Mood: wheres the wind?
4th October 2003
Windsurfing: Ynyslas estuary
Wind Direction: NW
Wind Stength: 20 knots +
Surf / Sea State: Flat / chop
Air Temperature: cold
Sea Temperature: warm ish
Weather:
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

After being shown who was boss by the golf course carpark waves a few of us puddle sailors heading round to the estuary for a bit of proper sailing ie keeping the board incontact with the water most of the time.
Had to wait for a while for the tide to come in but rigged 5.8 so to get out once there was enough water.
The water seamed to take ages to cover up the sand bank was worried for a while that as it wasn't a big tide there wasn't going to be enough water.
The water finaly got deep enough and hit the water and boy was it windy was hanging on the dear life most of the time but was coping well with the conditions. It was nice to sail out to the sand bank and step off and turn round didn't have the confidence to go for the gybes at such mental speeds.....yet
As I got my confidence in the conditons I started going for some gybes and even making some the funny thing being I made nearly all the gybes on the side which is my weaker direction for gybing (how weird is that)
Had one major wipe out when just as I unhooked and went for the gybe some how managed to hook back in! I departed the board very quickly. As tide continued to come in and cover the sand bar we were getting longer and longer runs was a bit scary in places as you could see the water was very shallow ,less than knee deep.
I continued making more dry gybes on my bad side than good side, then it happed...................I planned in ................switched feet, still planning................. flipped rig, still planning ................and planned out hooked back in and blasted off my first ever carve gybe!
Tried to repeat but didn't manage it but I done one at least ! totaly stoked
